Packaging Obligation Calculator 2024

This calculator can be used to calculate your Packaging Obligation for 2024 under the Packaging Waste Regulations. You should enter data for obligated packaging you handled between 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2023. The calculator applies the following targets which are unchanged from 2023 other than wood and the overall recycling targets.

Paper - 83%, Glass - 82%, Aluminium - 69%, Steel - 87%, Plastic - 61%, Wood - 42%, Overall recycling - 80%.  72% of the glass target must be met by melt applications.  

Please Note; If the glass obligation is zero but the melt obligation shows 1, the Agencies have declared that there is NO GLASS OBLIGATION, so please ignore the 1 tonne of melt obligation. This a rounding issue as the glass obligation is rounded to the nearest whole number whereas the glass melt obligation is rounded up to the nearest whole number. This can happen if 1 tonne is placed in any one of the glass cells in table 1.
